Billings was an architect/illustrator as well
as painter and sculpter. Born in London, worked in Bath, he was likely a member of the Billings family in Reading,
who were builders.

John Godfrey ( c. 1817 - 1889 )
Godfrey is best known for his plates in "Picturesque
Europe" ( 1876 - 1879 ) and the plates he engraved for "The Art Journal" (Lon-don). He also engraved for major print publish-ers,
such as Colnaghi. His last work was finished in collaboration with his son, Louis, and was pub-lished in the 1885 "Art Journal".
