IT HAS BEEN MY EXPERIENCE that contemporary (American) women  favor more the de-piction of their 19th century counterparts than do contemporary men... Goethe may have touched on it in Faust with his "feminine con-stant" (rough transla-tion). Could it be that contemporary women yearn for that "lost" mystery that men used   to "covet"/ "suppress"/   "worship" ?  ( Choose which at your own peril ... ) Goethe was loath to explain; the entire play is couched in symbols. Guess he figured we needed another 200 years to fathom the "Mystery"; the following images, and maybe even some of us, will still be around when it's all figured out.
